Some things + dAnniversary + Feature!

That was incredibly sweet of you, and I wish you'd come forward so I know who to thank/give art to.


I know I owe at least one more prize to someone from the Lineart4Colorists Halloween contest back in October (and I am SO, SO sorry that it's taken me so long to get all the prizes done that I owe), but if you happen to be one of the people I owe a piece to, please let me know/forward me the note to remind me!  I've been a bit scatterbrained the last few months and things sometimes get lost in the dark corners of my mind, so please feel free to shed a little light if you think your prize/commission ended up in that corner.

As far as other art goes, I'm kind of in a funk.  It might be the winter blues, it might be a lack of inspiration, or it might just be pure laziness.  I haven't had much motivation to do anything as of late, but I know I need to get my butt in gear so I'm better prepared for the Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo (ECEE, or Edmonton Expo for short) than I have been the last couple of years.  I've already gotten a couple suggestions from some of you (whether on dA or otherwise).  Don't be shy!  Let me know what you think I should draw!  The more input I get from you all, the better prepared I'll be and the more I'll have to offer!


If you don't know by now, this is not my first account on the website.  I started out over at TenshiHikari  on February 22nd, 2004.  Since then, I've seen deviantART change in innumerable ways, sometimes for better and sometimes for worse.  As much as I may have griped about this or that (and may still gripe about it ), I have to say that this website has brought me more joy than I give it credit.  If it weren't for dA, I wouldn't have met some of my dearest friends and I would not have grown as an artist and a writer.  This site has given me a wealth of knowledge and support that I'm not sure I could have found elsewhere so easily, and it's easy to take for granted everything that dA has offered, inadvertently or otherwise.

Part of the joy I've experienced here is watching others discover their passion and share it with the rest of the world.  I've seen people find themselves thanks to the people they've connected with, and I've seen people discover exactly what they want out of life.  Sometimes that meant they had to leave the website, but more often than not, it was for the best and I was glad to see them do something good for themselves.  Seeing the friendships that have blossomed (and even some beautiful romances) is something I will treasure for a long time to come.

Eleven years is a long time, when one thinks about it, to spend online and consistently return to the same place.  And it's all thanks to the people who keep dA alive: you guys.  The watchers, the visitors, the critics.  All of you have contributed to an experience that I hope to continue enjoying.

ugh, look at all that sentimentality up there. gross. let's switch gears, because i might vomit from the sugary affection
