I'm actually not going to complain too much about this one, unlike a lot of other old-timers here.
I've been on the site since 2004 (this is my second account, my first is TenshiHikari
), and I can confirm that complaints happen EVERY update. Sometimes I'm complaining about it as well, but as someone else said, I got used to it and moved on. Some updates were good, some were totally unnecessary (this one is in my unnecessary category...THREE "Upgrade to Premium" buttons? Really?). Last update that I recall being really good was the "Add Media", but that's mostly because I'm an emoticonist,
even though I haven't made an emote in, like, a year
. "Add Media" saved on people having to make plz accounts for whatever emotes they wanted to use in comments.
Before that, the customization of pages and organization of galleries and favourites was definitely a plus.
Wasn't a fan of the new symbols, but I got over that (not used to it, but over it, because what can one person do to change something that most people don't care about?). I'm STILL not a fan of nor used to the way they've got deviation pages laid out. The share buttons throw off my stride when I'm clearing out deviations from my inbox. Just when I think the "Remove from Messages" button isn't going to move, they throw in the share buttons up top and it makes me favourite something or begin to note it to someone.
What really grinds my gears is the fact that the website gets super-sluggish right before an update, and then there are still bugs to work out despite that it's been in beta for over a month. (Trust me, they're out there.
) Alas, what can you expect, though?
I just really don't understand the purpose of giving deviantART a new face every year or two.
Just when you get used to something, they switch it up on you.
Damn you, $taff!
As for things that people actually want
to happen: what about the collaboration idea
that's been sitting in
support for ages? Where you and whomever you collaborated with can post a piece together
. I know there's a lot of good ideas floating in that thread.
